I believe that therapy should be individualized and goal oriented. It is a collaborative process. Duration of treatment is dependent upon a combination of your objectives and my ongoing evaluation of your needs. It is important for me to understand your unique experience and how it impacts the therapeutic process. And I provide you with a safe and supportive environment in which to share.
Therapy can help you to relate to others more positively and connect more easily. We will challenge distorted thoughts, self doubt and criticism. You will gain a greater capacity for insight and confidence. While you develop new coping tools, we will work to uncover your inherent strengths. Life is a journey and setbacks are a certainty but we can learn to manage them and find much contentment along the way.
Exciting research has provided new insight into the way our minds function. Our brains have neuroplasticity, which is the profound ability to change our way of thinking throughout life. It was once believed that as we age, connections in the brain become fixed. But our brains have the continuous capacity to learn and grow. New coping skills lead to new neural connections and this in turn, promotes resilience. We can actually replace connections that trigger unhealthy thoughts and feelings.
